Horrible weather for photography..

Grey skies and no shadows anywhere. Either that or its raining! Oh and thats no to mention the fog...

Man I hope that the weather clears up real soon coz I am getting bored with the greyness!

Maybe I can get a rain cover for the Nikon and see if I can get some soggy shots! :)

Ok so the river didn't happen

Woke up at about 11.30 and decided to go to Canterbury instead to get some lovely boxes to present my Portfolio in. Found some that look better than the ones at Silverprint but cost less! Oh how happy was I....The answer there is VERY! Still need the clear plastic wallets that are open on two sides but hey it's still Twixtmass so I am still on Holiday slow down mode!

Took some pictures round Canterbury and found a shot that I was so happy about I have replaced the intro image on my site with the new one!

Thats after a few minutes post production and I think that its already coming on nicely!

Now that the holiday is out of the way I think its time that I start on my FMP ( Final Major Project ) for my HND. Trip to the river planned for Monday the 27th just hope that the weather holds up. I think that as I will be out and about on what is a very wet wind tunnel that thermal long johns might be in order! Woolwich Ferry and The Thames Barrier are on the list for tomorrow and maybe a quick trip to London City Airport. Wish me luck for the weather and getting the shots that I need. I might see what I can get to update my Portfolio a bit maybe?

If anyone is reading this thats on the same I hope that Santa paid you a visit and got you all the good things that you asked for! See you back at Brook St soon!

Rochester Xmas Market...

OMG I was expecting a lovely olde worlde German style Xmas gifts galore and all the good stuff...What did I get ??? A Sausage FEST! Every other stall was selling German Sausage, Dutch Sausage every kind of sausage you could want....including one for £40...that was like 3 feet long!

What are you hoping that Santa gets you for Xmas and please don't say sausage!

Speaking of sad things the Student Protest that turned ugly...I DO NOT condone any violence in the course of us protesting. But I do have a question...Why do the BBC seem to think that the worst thing that has happened and "A grave security threat!" is that a car was hit with some Xmas baubles filled with paint? Are they serious? I would have thought that the bigger question would be "HOW THE HELL DID WE LET PRINCE CHARLES AND CAMILLA OUT IN A CAR THAT DIDN'T HAVE BULLET PROOF WINDOWS????" Seriously...how else can they explain the smashed window on that Rolls?

Property for a studio

Why the heck is it so expensive???

I can see that this would make a beautiful studio, big enough to drive a car in. Big enough to split into smaller bays, maybe even product / small still life. It's a shame that its just priced outside of most peoples budget!

The River Thames

Anyone have any ideas on what I shouldn't miss when I go to photograph The Thames?

I think that I might need to refine my brief on the FMP a touch as someone suggested that I might have enough for a BA ( Hons ) if I did the 99 miles I was looking to.

I had planned to aim for the 99 miles that are tidal. I might narrow it down to the Upper and Lower Pool if I have bitten off to much!

Tiny Wildlife

Saw this tiny Hedgehog today.

I was able to get really close and take some snaps!

Ok Clubbers make for some strange pictures!

They know that I am taking their picture...What the heck is wrong with a simple smile?

Why Oh why do they never just look at me and smile? Why do the girls always decide that they need to adjust their hair the nano-second before I press the shutter?

I have to say that I love my job as a photographer as its also my passion, but sometimes they just make me wanna scream!

Whats in a picture?

Ok so two pictures of an Ariel Atom in action. What one do you think shows the most action?

The top one you get the action from Clarkson's mouth the bottom one uses the blur of the wheels and the background. What one shows the most action in your view?

Does the distortion on Clarkson's face give you a more personal impression of speed and action Vs the impersonal view of the helmeted driver?

Does the fact that in the bottom picture you can see the car as a whole rather than the close up of Clarkson's face in the top picture allow you to feel more of sense of movement?

Lemme know and we'll see how many think that the top picture gives more sense of speed and action and how many the bottom picture!

Picture series ideas...

Any ideas on a series of pics that you would like to see? I am thinking that a series of pictures showing decay and urban crumbling could be nice!? Urban Decay...what do you think I should show? Litter, Graffiti, Boarded up shops and houses maybe just Rust and Grime? Let me know and I will try and find it for ya!

Hands. What we do with them...almost everything. How we hold them when we are having a picture taken..Nobody ever knows what to do with heir hands. Send me an email or leave a comment and let me know what you do with your hands when having a picture taken! Me I use my hands to focus the camera and operate the shutter release...I am on the other side of the picture!

Ghost In Mirrors

Random shot from a photoshoot I did with a local band. They have just released their first album ( Big thumbs up from me! ) and they needed some new pics. I loved working with them as they all had their own ideas about the way that they wanted to look. I would love to do more photoshoots with bands and groups. Anyone looking for a photographer?
